Teacher Information
Red Gate Farm Education Center provides many different programs and resources for teachers. Whether you work in a classroom, develop extra-curricular activities or have a more informal group of students, there are many opportunities for you and your students at Red Gate Farm.
We have many field trip themes that have been well received by local teachers. There are many learning opportunities on the farm including pond studies, animal behavior and adaptations, seed saving, working the oxen, compost and soils, and honeybees.
In addition to the already existing trips, we are happy to create a unique trip tailored to suit you particular interests and needs.
Here?s what other teachers say about field trips at Red Gate Farm:
School sometimes feels a bit removed from the cycles of the seasons, but at Red Gate Farm we are immersed in the natural rhythms of life. Thank you Red Gate for being there for us!
- Jackie Walsh, director of the Before- and After-School Program at Buckland Shelburne Elementary
Red Gate Farm is a real farm, and being there feels like a real experience to children. Whether the theme of study is pond life, forest ecology, organic gardening or farm animals, the staff knows just how to engage children in active, meaningful learning. Children are learning by doing, so they?re having fun; and when we return to school, I find that they understand the concepts I?d taught so much more deeply than they did before we went. When I ask children to tell me their favorite memories of their school year, Red Gate Farm is always high on the list!
