And, as always, everyone is encouraged to lend a hand with chores every Saturday afternoon with our Young Farmers Program.

Your gifts count twice as much!

The farm has recently recieved a challenge grant from donors who would like to encourage giving to the farm. Until the end of the year, all contributions made to the farm will be matched - dollar for dollar - up to a total amount of $12,000.

This means if you give $25 now, it will be matched by another $25, making a total contribution to the farm of $50. Take advantage of this special opportunity and support the farm. Every gift counts, both big and small, so please support us in this challenge.

You can now make donations securely online by visiting our Donation Page!

UPDATE: Thanks your your generous support we met the challenge and were able to raise $12,000 to be matched for a grand total of $24,000. Thank you all for your thoughtful contributions - both big and small.

    Haunted Farm a Success!
Posted by: Jennifer Bennett  On: 29 October 2009
Our Haunted Farm event on Saturday tempted about 50 people to brave the elements to make it out. All of our events were inside so everyone stayed warm and dry. A fun time was had by all as they explored our 'haunted workshop' complete with chickens, goats and oxen. Fun games, apple cider pressing, face painting and pumpkin decorating were enjoyed by the young and the old.

We would like to thank the local businesses who, through their donations, made our event delightful. Many Thanks to Bear Swamp Orchards, Clark Orchards, Foxtown Coffee Shop, Big Y and Bread Euphoria. We'd also like to thank Matt Martin for a donation of giant pumpkins.

Many thanks also go out to all of our wonderful volunteers - we could not have done it without you! You made our event fun, safe, and only a pinch scary.

Many Thanks To All Our Nest Weavers!

Although the rain was falling on Saturday, we had many helpers come to weave our Giant Nest!

We learned a little about bird beaks, made bird feeders to take home, and munched on rice krispie treat bird nests!

But, most importantly, we really made Mama Bird happy!

    Thanks Everyone!

    Escape from Red Gate Farm
Posted by: Jennifer Bennett  On: 17 April 2009
Our dear ram, Lightning, decided to make a run for it a few days ago. A newly downed fence offered him the perfect opportunity. And Farmer Ben was the only witness to this escape. Lightning would have been home free had he not seen the 'other ram' in the reflection on the office door. He clearly never read Aesop's fable about the dog and his reflection! He decided that he was stronger than his reflection and so he rammed the sliding glass door. Luckily, the sliding track cracked off easily, so the glass remained in one piece. Ben seized the moment of the ram's wooziness and jumped on top of him. Lightning avoided the curious glances of the ewes as he was lead back into his pen.
